I had a trapeziectomy on my left thumb just 8 weeks ago. It is still a bit stiff and sore but the main thing about it is the weakness. I didn't think it would be this bad! I was told that it would take 3 - 6 months to get back to any sort of normality. Being a landscape gardener and going back to work (self employed) next Monday the 9th I feel I am again going to be a liabilty. Here's hoping the phsio can work a bit sooner than they say.

Hello-not heard of that either myself but 8 weeks seems very early to be going back to work as a landscape gardener. If you don't feel ready then your GP should be able to extend your sick leave maybe? YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Hi. I have just googled trapeziectomy and it sounds very painful. You must have had a lot of pain and problem with your thumb to need this operation. I hope it soon heals and you have much more movement in your thumb.
